Description

Sew a pillow cover! And in the process, learn, or re-learn, to use a sewing machine.

3 hour class—$75
Price includes all supplies.

Learn to use a sewing maching by sewing a pillow cover. This photo shows the opening at the back.

If you are new to sewing or want a solid refresh, this is the place to start. Get comfortable using a sewing machine including sewing seams and turning corners. You’ll sew and take home a fun envelope style pillow.

We will create samples of each sewing technique taught for future reference. We provide basic sewing supplies including sewing machines to use during the class.

All supplies to make the pillow including a pillow insert and a selection of home decor fabrics are provided. If you would like to use your own fabric, bring 3/4 yard of medium weight 100% cotton fabric (such as home decor canvas).

NOTE: This class is a prerequisite for the Learn to Sew Level 1 Apron class.  Find these classes here.

This class is held at Sew-Op + Maker Space in Vancouver, WA, across the Columbia River from Portland, OR.

For Portlanders who don’t often cross the river, it’s easy. Traveling north on I-5, take Mill Plain exit toward Port of Vancouver, stay in the left lane. (The far left lane is not Mill Plain.) Turn left at light and move to the right lane. You are now on 15th Street. Turn right on Broadway. Sew-Op is in the green building on right—the first building you come to.

There is 2-hour free street parking in front of Sew-Op and extended parking four blocks east. For closer parking download the convenient Parking Kitty app. Use this City of Vancouver Parking Map to find more parking locations.
