Everybody loves a shirt, so why not once-and-for-all perfect the fit and details. This workshop will allow you to refresh your wardrobe with a stylish shirt, while honing your fitting and sewing skills.
Perfect the most-used details in fashion sewing—collars, bands, interfacing, yokes, set-in-sleeves, sleeve plackets, cuffs, darts, buttonholes, shirt tail and other hems—the details you use again and again in sewing various garments.
Students will be guided every step of the way in conquering those construction techniques that require patience and skill. You will get expert help as you master both classic and time-saving techniques. The small class size allows for personalized instruction, as well as demonstration and explanation of each fitting and sewing detail.
If you have taken our 2-Day Beginning Fit or 4-Day Fit workshops you will have a head start altering a new pattern and perfecting the fit. You will end up with a shirt you can reinvent again and again with the same or changed details. You will learn how to design with darts— especially useful if you are full-busted.
You’ll leave with a completed garment and a pattern fitted perfectly to you.
Why 5-days? We want you to get as much out of the class as possible, so we’ve added the fifth day for half the price of the other days. We want you to succeed!
The workshop includes lunches and our Palmer/Pletsch classic shirt pattern Butterick B6852. Bring another Palmer/Pletsch shirt pattern of your choice from the choices shown below. Why Palmer/Pletsch? The alteration lines are on the tissue and fit help plus sewing tips are in the guide. Plus we’ve sewn them all and can help with all fit and sewing questions you have.
