The Pattern You’ll Need—Butterick B6924 Misses’ Perfectly Fashionable Camp Shirts

A simple camp shirt is a great way to learn to fit. Most of our camp shirts in the past have been unisex, such as B6846. We wanted a new camp shirt designed and sized for women. We wanted a “painless placket” set-in sleeve and a front yoke seam 2” below the natural shoulder. That gives front gathers a better place to sit than a slightly forward yoke shoulder seam. We added options for three different backs and hem looks. Why not make a “campy” fashionable camp shirt? Many fun details are in the guidesheet like a fancy back neck binding and a no-fail convertible collar.

Amelia, from the UK, says: “I started dressmaking about two years ago. I am obsessed with fit, but have never got it quite right until I bought the Palmer/Pletsch Complete Guide to Fitting. Wow! Your book has transformed my sewing and made me understand about fit and how to achieve it. I’m telling all my sewing buddies about it! What a difference this has made—although I now seem to be even more picky! I now realize how awful the fit is with all my ready-to-wear clothes!”
