Butterick B6854 Misses’ Dolman Knit Tops and Tunic
This loose-fitting top with drop shoulders is narrow at the lower edge so that you can pull it up and blouson it around your hips. For moderate stretch knits only. This pattern was previously McCall’s M7979.
Dolman Knit Top or Tunic with Cowl or Twisted Collar
Close-fitting, pullover top or tunic has drop shoulder & low armhole; sleeve variations.
View A has a simple drop shoulder; View B has a 3/4-sleeve attached to the armhole; View C has a circular cowl or an optional twisted cowl collar attached to the neckline. The instructions in the guidesheet show both.
FOR A BLOUSON LOOK: Depending on the amount of stretch in the knit, after you cut it out and baste the four seams right sides together, try it on and pin-fit the lower 12″ tightly around your hips creating a shirred look that will hug the body.
Or pull the bottom to your knees and have a dress. It is a great pattern to hack. We’ve cut it off just below the waist for a comfy knit top which can be sewn in knits and wovens. It is very oversized. If you are normally a size 12, you might want to cut a size 8 or 10. Or while fabric-fitting you can decide to take in the side seams tapering to the seamline at the armhole.
