Creative Serging
FOUR-DAY WORKSHOP

We believe that if you do it, you will remember it...so you will be making lots of samples during this class. You will try many different serger techniques and use lots of different threads. All fabrics and threads will be provided. Bring your own serger, since each has its own personality, and you want to master the one you will be sewing on.

This four-day Sewing Vacation concentrates on mastering your serger. You will create a notebook full of samples ranging from balanced tensions to rolled edges and flatlocking using many decorative threads and techniques.  Included are flatlocked fringe, blanket stitch, fagoting, rolled edge over wire, original trim, elastic application, piping, and a mini four-step jacket.

We include a notebook, fabric and threads for your samples.  You will take home a completed notebook of color-coordinated samples.

In 1986, Palmer/Pletsch held their first four-day workshops, which were on the revolutionary new piece of equipment for home sewers, the serger or overlock machine. Palmer/Pletsch pioneered techniques and teaching methods for this new equipment, teaching both basic and creative ideas, many of which the Palmer/Pletsch staff invented for the serger. These early classes brought people to Portland, Oregon, from all over the world. Sewing machine dealers, consumers and sewing machine industry representatives sat side by side with the experts.
