As a publisher, Palmer/Pletsch is unique in
that when we reprint a book, we make product changes or corrections
to errors, but every few, say 5-8 years, we do revisions. We do
hands-on teaching and we are always learning and improving. Many
books are written from pure research, but ours are written from
experience and research. Our goal is to be the best we can be. Many
of our titles are called "evergreen" in the book publishing
industry--we don't go away, we just get better. The Joy of Cooking
is an evergreen title.
Fit is a difficult concept and we learn more
every time fashion changes and every time we teach. I have been
troubled about you not having the latest in techniques without
buying an entire new book. Since the Fit for Real People
book was first written in 1998, we have had six reprints in which we
made changes, first in 2005 and again when we did a second edition
in 2007, and again in 2009. The latest version of the book says on
the title page Second Edition Updated 2007 and on the back of the
title page it says Seventh printing July 2010. I have now decided
that it is a win-win for both of us if we can offer you this option
of a document with just the pages that have been changed.
We have put together 24 pages of IMPORTANT
changes made in the last 12 years. These pages can also be found in
the latest printing of Fit for Real People, available on our
book page on this website. If you don't have it in the easy-to-use
spiral version, that would be a good choice, too, especially if you
are a teacher.
Changed pages by page #:
|
13 & 16 |
size 26 added to the measurement charts |
|
18-19 |
Louis XIV date corrected
. |
| 24 |
Marta and I finally bit the bullet and dropped the need
to take the full bust measurement for size. We added a
theory of where the term "bust" may have come from
(versus breast). |
|
26 |
updated information on sizes |
| 30 |
pattern companies have converted
totally to multi-size patterns—all new information
working with them. |
| 60 & 69 |
the "O" figure type added to the chart on page 60 and to
the Body Graph Worksheet on page 69 |
|
107 |
eliminated tip about cutting off the notch—multi-size
patterns no longer have them. |
| 108 |
replaced cardboard cutting table
that was no longer available with info on the folding
cardboard cutting surface; however, the tables can now
be ordered from www.primadonnadesign.com in the U.S. or
www.foldawaycuttingtable.com |
|
123 |
expanded information on the high
round alteration |
|
146-147 |
We added the "Y-bust" alteration for people fuller
in chest area as well as bust. We dropped the original
page 147 as we generally no longer fix the armhole gap
by simply deepening the dart or shifting the front
shoulder toward the neckline. |
|
151-152 |
We found that the line 1 for a
princess bust alteration needs to be close to the seam
on the side front. We have working on this for four
years. In 2009, we were finally happy with it! (Also see
the expanded Princess Bust Adjustment available as a
separate download.) |
|
159 |
updated illustration and copy on
removing a dart in a one-piece dress |
|
169 |
new illustrated note about making a
full arm adjustment in short sleeves |
| 237 |
As patterns went to multi-size, they no longer have
notches sticking out from the cut edge. |
|
248 |
updated the information on computer
patterns, added information on commerical patterns, and
removed information about the custom body-wrap dress
forms from Chicago that are no longer available |
|
252-253 |
revised index reflects changes to date |
| BONUS: |
