The Winky Cherry System of Teaching Children to Sew teaches children sewing plus social and growth skills. Levels progress from hand sewing to embroidery and machine sewing. Author and teacher Winky Cherry believes that children should learn to sew by hand before they learn to use a sewing machine. Hand sewing skills develop finger dexterity and teach the values of patience and practice.

This series of books starts boys and girls as young as five. The program is compatible with Montessori-style teaching and is excellent for home schooling. Five of the six books are packaged as kits with some of the materials for a first project. Along with the teaching manual and DVD, they offer a complete, thoroughly tested sewing program for children ages 5 to 11 who will learn patience, anners, creativity, completion, and how to follow rules...all through the enjoyment of sewing. Each book follows a project from start to finish with clever rhymes and clear illustrations.

Learn to Teach Children

TEACHER'S
MANUAL

The theory behind this book is to start 5 year-olds sewing what they can handle and enjoy, and what you can safely and simply teach.

Not only will you learn how to teach children to sew, but this system will help you form competent little people who respect both people and things.  You will be introducing them to the joys of sewing, and also to a "method of learning" that can be used in all phases of their education.   Oh?  You thought you were going to learn to teach 5-year-olds to sew?   You will...but your teachings will have a more far reaching effect than you ever dreamed.

The book is broken down into three parts

Part I - Everything you need to know to teach a "My First Sewing" Series

Part II - The psychology of teaching children

Part III - The business of teaching children to sew.

"Winky Cherry System Manual" $19.95
